TRANSIT THE CANAL -- A new experience to many in 1967. became a very familiar sight within the first three months of 1968. It was then that TOPEKA changed her home port from Long Beach, California to Mayport, Florida.

MISSILES AWAY -- As a Terrier missile finds its way to its target.
The missile system in TOPEKA has proved time and time again her very efficient surface to air accuracy.

1968 DEPLOYMENT -- Had many memorable experiences such as when Secretary of the Navy Paul R Ignatius came aboard for a brief visit. Captain G. G. Halvorson, USN, Commanding Officer and Rear Admiral V. P. Healey. USN, Commander Cruiser-Destroyer Flotilla SIX, welcomed Secretary Ignatius on TOPEKA and gave him a tour of the ship's spaces.

VISITING PORTS -- Each of which will always be remembered as the setting of many events. Here TOPEKA enters very familiar Valletta, Malta.
