WITH the early arrival of King Neptune the Pollywog cooks and mess cooks were up and preparing breakfast at 0200. In order that the shellbacks not be bothered with Pollywogs, they of course were fed first and then at 0600 breakfast was piped for the lowly ones. This is a breakfast which each Pollywog had been looking forward to and some were in such awe they could hardly walk

At 0745 the Pollywogs manned the rail for the arrival of King Neptune, while the Shellbacks awaited his royal arrival on the forecastle. Then promptly at 0800 the Royal Party arrived. After a royal greeting by the Captain, all was ready for the ceremony to begin. Here we see the Royal Party ready to reign over the initiation.
